The DAAD Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS), School of Science and Technology, is now accepting applications for the Master of Science in Environmental Health Programme.
There are only a few scholarships available from DAAD for applicants, whether they are national or international. DAAD provides scholarships for Master’s studies through the In-Country/In-Region Scholarship Programme.
The German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) funds the programme. While focusing on university staff, it also addresses the public sector’s demand for academically trained personnel.
DAAD MUBAS Programme Overview
The DAAD MUBAS programme is divided into two parts: coursework and dissertation. The coursework comprises ten core modules:
- Epidemiology and Biostatistics;
- Environmental Pollution Control;
- Food Safety and Hygiene;
- Health Communication and Behaviour Change;
- Global Health;
- Occupational Safety and Health;
- Health Project Management;
- Water, Sanitation and Hygiene; and
- Geographical Information Systems in Environmental Health Practice.
To graduate with an MSc, students must undertake a research project culminating in producing a dissertation.
The recommended duration of the programme is four semesters (two years) full-time.
Admission Requirements for DAAD MUBAS
Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree with above-average results (a Credit, Distinction or GPA of 2.5 and above or equivalent) obtained from any recognised institution of higher learning in Environmental Health, Public Health or any other related field not more than six years ago.
Female and underprivileged applicants are particularly encouraged to apply.
