Deputy General Manager at Dangote Industries Limited

Dangote Industries Limited is seeking an experienced quality assurance and control professional for the position of Deputy General Manager, Quality Assurance & Control at its Ibese Plant in Ogun State, Nigeria.

The full-time role is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing the plant’s quality management framework across the production process, from raw material extraction through to final product delivery.

The successful candidate will lead quality assurance and quality control activities, ensure compliance with applicable standards, drive continuous improvement, and help maintain product quality across the cement production process. The position reports to the Plant Director.

Key responsibilities

The Deputy General Manager will be responsible for:

• Providing strategic leadership to the quality assurance and quality control team.
• Establishing and maintaining a robust Quality Management System aligned with standards such as ISO 9001.
• Developing and implementing the plant’s annual Quality Control Plan.
• Monitoring and reporting quality performance, cost of poor quality and improvement initiatives to executive management.
• Overseeing laboratory operations and testing of raw materials, clinker, cement, oil, gas and water.
• Ensuring laboratory and process-control equipment is properly calibrated.
• Monitoring chemical parameters and the quality of intermediate products such as raw meal and clinker.
• Investigating and resolving product non-conformances and deviations from quality standards.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant legal, regulatory and industrial standards.
• Planning and supporting internal and external quality audits.
• Managing Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) processes.
• Maintaining quality documentation, data management and traceability systems.
• Leading Lean and Six Sigma initiatives to reduce waste, scrap and rework.
• Investigating customer complaints and using market feedback to drive quality improvements.
• Working with procurement teams and suppliers to maintain the quality of incoming raw materials and additives.
• Training and coaching employees to strengthen a quality-first culture.

Requirements

Education and professional qualifications

Applicants should have:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• A relevant postgraduate qualification or advanced management degree is highly preferred.
• Professional certifications such as ASQ Certified Quality Auditor or Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt are strongly desired.

Experience

The role requires significant professional experience, typically 15 years or more, in quality assurance and quality control within the cement or heavy manufacturing industry.

Candidates should also have:

• Experience managing large, multidisciplinary teams in a demanding manufacturing environment.
• Strong experience with ISO systems.
• Experience with quality auditing software and advanced analytical tools.
• A strong understanding of cement chemistry, raw material analysis and mineral processing.
