An opportunity is available for an experienced project management and operations professional to support the expansion of a large-scale agricultural programme in Nigeria.

The role focuses on strengthening field operations, improving data systems, supporting expansion into new locations, reducing operational costs and leading teams responsible for seedling production, farmer enrolment and distribution.

The successful candidate will work across operations, supply chain, technology and expansion teams and may be responsible for field operations across one or two states.

Key Responsibilities

Operations and Data Management

• Manage operational data systems covering seedling production, farmer enrolment and distribution.
• Build and maintain dashboards that track key operational indicators, inventory and performance.
• Analyse operational data to identify bottlenecks and forecast capacity requirements.
• Maintain data quality, standardisation and consistent reporting across operational sites.

Expansion and Scaling

• Lead mapping and expansion activities within existing locations and into new states.
• Assess potential nursery locations, logistics requirements and operational feasibility.
• Develop and standardise operational launch procedures for new nurseries.
• Support efficient and high-quality programme expansion.

Process Improvement

• Review existing operational processes to improve productivity and efficiency.
• Identify opportunities to reduce operating costs year over year.
• Test and implement field technology solutions such as mobile tracking, GIS mapping and automated nursery tools.
• Regularly assess field operations to identify waste and opportunities for improvement.

Cross-Functional Operations

• Work closely with Supply Chain, Expansion and Technology teams.
• Manage relationships with vendors and support logistics and resource procurement.
• Identify and mitigate operational risks that could affect timelines, deliveries or costs.

Team Leadership

• Lead, mentor and motivate field teams to achieve operational targets.
• Develop standard operating procedures and train teams on data tools, field technology and operational practices.
• Set performance targets and support a culture of accountability and continuous learning.
• Participate in recruitment and lead recruitment plans at state or regional level.
• Potentially oversee field operations across one or two states.

Requirements

Candidates should have:

• At least 3 years of relevant professional experience, including experience leading teams.
• Experience implementing projects at field level.
• A university degree in Agricultural Economics, Supply Chain Management, Business Analytics, Data Science, Industrial Engineering, Agroforestry, International Development or a related quantitative or operational discipline.
• Strong data analysis and dashboarding skills, including proficiency with tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, SQL or advanced Excel.
• A strong understanding of operational cost drivers and efficiency metrics.
• Experience using mobile data collection platforms such as CommCare, ODK or Kobo.
• Experience managing complex logistics, inventory or distribution operations, preferably in rural environments.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Experience managing teams across geographically dispersed locations.
• Strong project management and organisational skills, including the ability to manage multi-state projects under tight deadlines.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work across technical, operational and leadership teams.

Project management certification is an advantage.
