In 2026, loan apps in Nigeria are a necessity, especially for personal emergencies or business expansion.
Let’s begin with Renmoney, as it has the lowest interest rates among the top loan apps in Nigeria and lends the highest amount, reaching up to ₦10,000,000. Consider FairMoney, Carbon, or Branch only in case Renmoney rejects your application or you need to take a loan for less than three months.
Renmoney is the only one out of four that calculates its example of a cost based on the remaining balance.
Every app discussed here is either a microfinance bank authorized by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) or is approved as a lender by the FCCPC, a body registering digital financial services providers.
So they publish an annual percentage rate (APR), which shows how much a loan costs for a year. The lowest APR published is 29.88%.
Loan apps in Nigeria compared
I got all the data below from lenders’ own published listings and in-app test. Always do your independent verification. Also, borrow only if you are sure you have good sources of income, which could repay the loan.
| App | Loan range | Monthly rate | Yearly rate (APR) | Repayment period |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Renmoney | ₦5,000 – ₦10,000,000 | 2.12% – 2.65% | 29.88% | 91 days – 12 months |
| FairMoney | Up to ₦3,000,000 | ₦30,000 interest on ₦100,000 over 3 months | 24% to 456% | 61 days – 36 months |
| Carbon | ₦25,000 – ₦1,000,000 | 4.5% – 30% | Up to 195% | 61 days – 12 months |
| Branch | ₦6,000 – ₦2,000,000 | From 3% | 34% – 271% | 62 days – 12 months |
Understanding the table:
- The monthly interest is the interest charged per month. It seems low, but in fact, it accumulates.
- The APR or annual interest rate is directional. Use the column for comparison of directions, not to rate the apps by it.
- The actual cost is higher than the APR. In some apps, the loan interest is charged on the total sum of the loan, so you keep paying interest even when returning the money.
- Loan amounts are maximums. The limit offered to you by the lender is determined according to your profile data and might be lower than the maximum.
Confirm the lender before downloading. Check it against the list of digital money lenders registered on the FCCPC register at fccpc.gov.ng/registration-of-digital-money-lenders.
1. Renmoney Loan App
The cheapest loan app out of four in Nigeria; you pay interest only on the outstanding balance
Renmoney is a licensed microfinance bank by CBN that provides unsecured loans between 91 days and 12 months.
The monthly interest rate is 2.12% to 2.65%; the lowest among the four. It offers loans starting from ₦5,000 to ₦10,000,000, depending on your eligibility.
For instance, you take out a loan of ₦1,000,000 at a monthly interest of 2.49% that you will repay ₦97,428 every month or ₦1,169,137 in total over 12 months.
| Loan detail | Amount |
|---|---|
| Amount borrowed | ₦1,000,000 |
| Monthly interest rate | 2.49% |
| Repayment period | 12 months |
| Monthly repayment | ₦97,428.11 |
| Total repayment | ₦1,169,137.32 |
| Total cost above principal | ₦169,137.32 |
Furthermore, Renmoney outlines 1% for management fees and 29.88% for the APR. Before labeling the total as the entire cost of borrowing, ensure that the management fees are included within the total or paid separately.
This calculation is proportionate to Renmoney’s case study in which they have considered ₦2,000,000 as the amount borrowed. Fees can affect the amount you pay.
What to watch out for in Renmoney
However, Renmoney is the most affordable, although you might not receive all that it offers.
The ₦10,000,000 limit is the maximum amount. If your business needs more than ₦1,000,000, you can gradually reach the limit by repaying smaller amounts.
In addition, it should be noted that the lowest rate is achieved. Renmoney states that customers receive a discount in the form of lower rates and more time to repay their debts. Do not expect the first offer to include 2.12% rate.
Before accepting, consider the monthly payment in relation to your income. Despite the total amount being rather small, you should be ready to pay within 12 months.
2. FairMoney Loan App
The loan app in Nigeria offering up to ₦3 million.
Choose FairMoney if you require loans greater than Branch (₦2,000,000) and Carbon (₦1,000,000), and have been rejected by Renmoney.
It is a microfinance bank registered with CBN and is therefore regulated as any bank would be.
With FairMoney, you can take out a loan of up to ₦3,000,000 without collateral, meaning you do not have to put down your property as security. The repayment period ranges from 60 days to 36 months.
This is an example shown on FairMoney’s own listing page.
You borrow ₦1,000,000 for a repayment period of 12 months at 10% monthly interest rate in a monthly repayment of ₦183,333.33. That is a total of ₦2,200,000, making your interest cost ₦1,200,000.
| Loan Detail | Calculated Amount / Terms |
| Amount Borrowed (Principal) | ₦1,000,000 |
| Repayment Period | 12 Months |
| Monthly Interest Rate | 10% |
| Total Cost Above Principal (Interest) | ₦1,200,000 (₦100,000 × 12 months) |
| Total Repayment | ₦2,200,000 |
| Monthly Repayment | ₦183,333.33 |
At this specific rate profile, the interest accrued over a 12-month period (₦1.2 million) would exceed the original amount borrowed.
Since the amount of interest you receive is dependent on your credit profile and repayment history, it cannot be static for all borrowers. The monthly interest charged by Fairmoney is usually between 2% and 38%.
At the lower end (e.g., 8%) you will pay ₦960,000 in interest, bringing your monthly payments up to ₦163,333.
Before accepting such a loan on any app, it is important that you study the last page of your loan agreement carefully. By law, you must see this information before accepting a loan offer.
What to check before borrowing on Fairmoney loan app
FairMoney rates APR (Annual Percentage Rate) varies between 24% and 456%, meaning that you pay the interest from 2% to 38% per month.
You pay the interest according to your profile and repayment track record. Individual offer on the screen is more important than any example from advertising.
First of all, find out total sum you should repay shown on the offer page and compare it with guaranteed income before deadline. In case you cannot afford it, refuse the offer.
In case FairMoney offers you FlexiCredit, which means their credit limit up to ₦5,000,000, the price will be cheaper. This credit works like overdraft: you have a limit and pay interest on used amount only. Interest rate is 0.25% daily.
Using ₦100,000 for 90 days costs you ₦22,500 instead of ₦30,000 as on the standard example. But not everyone can use this feature.
3. Carbon Loan App
The loan app with ₦1 million ceiling and 12 months to repay, without collateral.
As a backup option to Renmoney, use Carbon for amounts ranging from ₦25,000 to ₦1,000,000 and repay within 1 year.
Carbon is a licensed Microfinance Bank by the CBN, offering loans without collateral ranging from 61 days to 12 months, with the monthly interest rate ranging from 4.5% to 30%. The highest APR offered by Carbon is 195%.
Here is the example of Carbon. You borrow ₦1,000,000 in 12 months at 4.5% per month and pay back ₦1,540,000, which amounts to ₦128,333 per month.
| Loan Detail | Carbon Example Terms |
| Amount Borrowed (Principal) | ₦1,000,000 |
| Repayment Period | 12 Months |
| Monthly Interest Rate | 4.5% |
| Total Cost Above Principal (Interest) | ₦540,000 |
| Total Repayment | ₦1,540,000 |
| Monthly Repayment | ₦128,333.33 |
The interest is calculated on the original ₦1,000,000 for the entire 12 months, rather than decreasing as you pay down the balance.
More about carbon Loan App
4.5% sounds like the interest on your outstanding balance, but this is not the case. As per Carbon’s calculation, the 4.5% is levied on the total amount borrowed of ₦1,000,000 throughout the 12 months.
That translates to 4.5% times 12, giving 54%, and 54% of ₦1,000,000 is equal to ₦540,000 of interest in the example.
This is flat-rate interest, which is similar to paying rent for a room you have moved out of. You pay interest every month even as you make repayments and reduce the balance outstanding.
It ends up costing you more money. If Carbon had charged 4.5% interest on the balance owed, your repayment would be approximately ₦1,316,000. By using the flat formula, you end up paying an additional ₦224,000.
In relative terms, your interest costs are around 7.4% monthly, which is higher than the quoted 4.5%. Compound it to yearly interest of 135%. Remember, you will be paying the full ₦540,000 of interest charged and not 135%.
There is also the option of having a late fee of 0.03333% of your daily balance, which translates to 1% monthly.
4. Branch Loan App
A loan app in Nigeria to borrow from ₦6,000 and above with no collateral
Pick Branch for a small loan beginning at ₦6,000 or when you require a ceiling of ₦2,000,000. Branch claims it is regulated by the CBN and is on the list of approved lenders according to the FCCPC. Branch provides loans without collateral for a period of 62 days to one year.
The interest rate starts at 3% per month while the annual percentage rate (APR) ranges from 34% to 271% based on how risky Branch finds you.
Branch’s example includes that you take a loan of ₦1,000,000 for 12 months with monthly repayment of ₦113,333.33, and the cost of the loan is ₦360,000 in interest.
| Loan Detail | Scenario A: (3% Monthly) | Scenario B: (15% Monthly) |
| Amount Borrowed | ₦1,000,000 | ₦1,000,000 |
| Monthly Interest Rate | 3% | 15% |
| Total Interest Cost | ₦360,000 | ₦1,800,000 |
| Total Repayment | ₦1,360,000 | ₦2,800,000 |
| Monthly Repayment | ₦113,333.33 | ₦233,333.33 |
In case you have a good profile on Branch and get its lowest rates (approximately 3%), taking a loan of ₦1 million is easy. But if you get rates in the two-digit range, after a year, the interest will be higher than the initial amount of the loan.
More on Branch Loan App
While the “from 3%” mentioned in the headline may be the best you can achieve, this will hardly apply to your first loan with Branch. According to Branch, the APR depends on your repayment record, which you lack in the app yet.
It is also important to remember that the APR underestimates the cost as it calculates interest based on the assumption that the borrower keeps all ₦1,000,000 for 12 months, rather than the actual balance.
Now take a look at three options provided earlier: the amounts and terms are different, so there is no ranking here; however, one thing is certain, the shorter the loan, the more expensive it is per month.
One last detail to note before accepting the offer. While Branch states in its listing that some customers may incur a late fee, it does not state the exact fee amount. Check the latter in your loan agreement before tapping Accept.
Which Loan App gives ₦20,000, ₦50,000 or ₦100,000 Instantly?
No app will guarantee you any of these amounts because your credit limit will be determined by the lender based on your records, and first-time borrowers have the fewest records.
Request the smallest amount that will solve your problems. For those who prefer three months, apply to Renmoney first for all three amounts.
“Instant” refers to the speed with which the funds will get to your account upon approval. Approval will depend on the information the lender gets about you from your BVN, banking information, and, for some of these apps, phone information.
First-loan limits are not published by lenders. Reports from outside sources place these limits between ₦5,000 and ₦40,000, and increase with repayment of previous loan.
reports put them between ₦5,000 and ₦40,000, and your limit rises as you repay on time.
| Amount | Renmoney | FairMoney | Carbon | Branch |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ₦20,000 | Yes (from ₦5,000) | Minimum not published | No (₦25,000 minimum) | Yes (from ₦6,000) |
| ₦50,000 | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| ₦100,000 | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
“Yes” indicates whether the amount is within the lender’s published range, not whether you will be approved for that amount.
Which loan app gives ₦20,000 instantly?
Branch or Renmoney. Branch starts at ₦6,000 and Renmoney starts at ₦5,000, hence, both have the same price range. With a minimum of ₦25,000, Carbon is ruled out of our choices and FairMoney does not state a minimum at all.
However, ₦20,000 is the amount a borrower will likely get on his/her first borrowing. On Renmoney’s example terms it will cost ₦1,200 in three months and ₦6,100 in 62 days on Branch’s example terms.
Which loan app gives ₦50,000 instantly?
All four provide this sum, however, consider it the loan you can get on your second or third borrowing. Make your first borrowing and repay it on time to increase your limit. The fee difference is huge: ₦3,010 at Renmoney’s terms and ₦15,333 at Branch’s.
Which loan app gives ₦100,000 instantly?
This much money cannot be expected by a new borrower. If the app suggests lower, borrow lower. Getting several small loans on different loan apps to cover the ₦100,000 will result in several repayment dates and several fee schedules; this is how many people fail.
Which Loan App in Nigeria Should You Pick?
₦500,000 and above: Select Renmoney. Second option is FairMoney for up to ₦3,000,000. Branch covers ₦2,000,000 maximum while Carbon goes up to ₦1,000,000.
Repayment period is less than three months: Choose FairMoney, Carbon, and Branch. Shortest loans in these apps are 61 and 62 days while shortest loan period in Renmoney is 91 days.
You need less than ₦25,000: Take Branch that offers loans starting from ₦6,000. Carbon loan starts at ₦25,000.
