I Built a Digital Home for AMA Associação in Portugal

AMA was specifically established to cater to the needs of immigrants, with a focus solely on their concerns and managed entirely by people who themselves are migrants.

They help in finding employment, assistance in professional training, and every other certified training in Portuguese. Also, offer legal and administrative support that affect the lives of immigrants in Portugal

AMA Associação Case Study: Building a Digital Home for Immigrants

Client: AMA Associação

Project Scope: Web Design, User Portal

Designed by: Oluboba

Website: amaassociacao.pt

The Mission

AMA is a migrant-run org, and needed a site to show that. When they got in touch at Oluboba; they wanted a website that’s like a haven for immigrants starting over in Portugal.

They needed something special, not just ordinary but welcoming, multilingual, and fit for purpose.

The Website: Clarity, Accessibility & Community

I started by crafting a simple and fully responsive website. The focus? Empathy and ease. I structured the design to reduce overwhelm, especially for users who might be new to digital tools or dealing with language barriers.

Here’s what I prioritized:

  • A soft color palette and calming visuals
  • Clear navigation with icons and translated content
  • Calls-to-action that guide users to services and support
  • Mobile-first design—because most of their users browse from phones

The User Portal: Empowerment Through Access

  • AMA needed a secure portal for migrants to:
  • Access application resources and guides
  • Submit documents
  • Get updates on support services
  • Book appointments with advisors

I made a simple, and trustworthy login portal. We made every page super easy to use, with simple steps, clear instructions, and translations.

What the Team Said

Our users log in and feel seen. They no longer get lost. We’re proud of this platform—it’s beautiful, secure, and truly helpful. All thanks to Oluboba — Community Liaison Officer, AMA

The Impact

  • Mobile engagement increased by 72%
  • Document submissions through the portal doubled
  • Multilingual traffic spiked, especially from Portuguese-speaking African countries
  • This site now serves as a central hub for over 1500 community members.

Final Thoughts

We didn’t just focus on looks and usability; we put ourselves in our users’ shoes.

Thanks to AMA Associação, I have got to create a platform that’s way more than informative. It actually empowers people!

At Oluboba, I don’t just design websites; I build human-friendly digital spaces. Let’s discuss your project.
