The Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC) has assured the public that they are fully prepared of executing the local government elections set to happen on Saturday.
According to Marvis Toryem, the BSIEC Information Officer, they handed out non-sensitive materials on Tuesday to all 23 local government areas and will distribute the sensitive materials on Friday.
“The commission has recruited all categories of ad hoc staff, and they have been trained in various areas and are ready for the election.
“All materials for the election, from sensitive to non-sensitive, and also operational vehicles for the election have been in place and ready to work.
“Media houses would also be accredited and given tags for the coverage of elections,” she said.
She added that the chairman had several meetings with security agencies to ensure tight security in high-risk areas.
She says the move is to make sure everything is secure. The Benue Commissioner of Police coordinated a peace pact signed by the participating political parties.
