The Rivers Political Elders and Leaders Forum is telling everyone in the state to vote without being scared on Saturday.
Chief Celestine Omehia, a former Governor of the state, said this when they visited Gov. Siminalayi Fubara in Port Harcourt.
Omehia said the whole point of the visit was to encourage the governor to stay committed to a successful council poll.
According to Omehia, the election was about people’s fundamental right to vote and they should definitely use it.
He said it’s the state election body’s job to set up the poll for people to pick their leaders at the grassroots.
“Those who do not want the election to hold are not interested in the welfare of Rivers people.
“As a group, we are interested in strengthening democratic principles, we want the state to grow in unity,” he said.
Omehia said that the former leaders would be super happy to see the state doing so well with peace, unity, and development.
