On Thursday in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital, the Federal Government commenced the sale of 50kg rice at a discounted price.
The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, said it was one of the many programs to help Nigerians.
Kyari, represented by Mrs. Toyin Ayo-Ajayi, the ministry’s State Director, said that the distribution is being monitored by various government agencies to make sure it get to everyone.
The Minister mentioned that the government had taken steps to get the rice to the right people.
He said all you need is your NIN and ATM card to buy 50kg of rice for N40,000.
“However, I want to specifically applaud Gov. Dapo Abiodun for his commitment to the welfare of the citizens of the state.
“Ogun is one of the first set of states in Nigeria to enjoy the benefit and this can be attributed to the governor’s tenacity and visionary leadership.
“Ogun has one of the most organised templates ensuring that this gets to the three Senatorial districts of the state and all at the grassroots,” he said.

This is a welcomed development at least for this year.
Starting next year, a better option will be to give lands and fertilizer to farmers at a discounted rate. Also, subsidized fuel to reduce the cost of transportation.
And for you, look for any daily contribution company that converts your money to food items by December. It sure helps.
