The below scripture solidifies the truth that my help is from God.
“Give us help from trouble, for the help of man is useless.” David cried out to God in Psalm 60:11
It was 2019, dad concerned about my next step as a fresh graduate. So, he mentioned his friends, he wants me to meet, so they could help in getting a job.
I sensed the message behind him wanting me to meet his friends was more a dependency. Something like, “These people must help you before you can get any job in the country.”
Without a second thought, I told him I am not interested.
He was like,
“Ayodeji, God will not come down from heaven to help you. It is humans he will use.”
That sounds good and convincing, right? Still, I said NO.
While I understand that God will not come down, yet I believe that only God’s help satisfies.
We must be careful on the grounds on which we receive help. Let’s not become desperate for this help from a man that we forget God.
Psalm 20: 7 says
“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the Lord, our God.

So, I have compiled a list of help from God scripture that can strengthen yourself in times of trouble.
1) Genesis 49:25
By the God of your father, who will help you, And by the Almighty who will bless you with Blessings of heaven above, Blessings of the deep that lies beneath, Blessings of the breasts and of the womb.
2) Deuteronomy 33: 29
Happy are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the Lord.
The shield of your help And the sword of your majesty!

3) Isaiah 50: 7
For the Lord God will help Me; Therefore I will not be disgraced;

Prayer When You Need Help From God
How do you ask for help from God? How do you tell him your needs?
The scripture says in Matthew 7:9-11 –
“9 Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?
10 Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent?
11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!”
When you go to your father (God), communicate with him as one with a loving father.
There is no limitation to what you can ask God for. The only instruction he gave was to ask anything in his name (John 14:4) and in faith (1 John 5: 14).

Mighty God, The King of kings, Alpha and Omega, I bless your holy name.
Father, thank you for the precious gift of life and your outstanding works in my life. Thank you, Jesus.
Lord, I ask for your cleansing and purification over everything that is not your will in my life.

It’s okay to ask for help. It’s okay to receive support. We can’t do it alone.
Even the prophet, Samuel, required men to help (favour) him.
1 Samuel 2:26 – “And the child Samuel grew on, and was in favour both with the LORD and also with men.”
Also, Jesus received help (favour) from men.
Luke 2:52 – “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.”
So, the help is not the problem, but not acknowledging that your help is first from God.
