The Niger Delta youths want everyone to know they’re not involved in the October 1 protest. They’re firmly behind President Bola Tinubu.
Thousands of young people stormed Effurun in Delta state to voice their opinions at a forum organized by the Presidential Amnesty Programme.
The young ones voiced their stance on the upcoming uprising, assuring their ongoing backing for President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.
They urged their colleagues in the region to stay away from the protest, promising that Tinubu is working hard to tackle the challenges in the region.
Earlier, Dr. Dennis Otuaro, the PAP Administrator, told the people of Niger Delta not to protest.
Otuaro mentioned that it’s up to the residents of the Niger Delta to maintain peace and stability, and encouraged them to stay peaceful.
He emphasized the importance of having a good relationship with the government for development.
“The President means well for the Niger Delta, and we must support his efforts to bring development to our region.
“The Niger Delta people will not be part of any protest.
“The problems of the Niger Delta will be resolved by the president, but it is up to us to ensure our region is not used as a base for protests.
“We have a responsibility to ensure that our region is peaceful.
“It is in our hands to keep the Niger Delta secure and support the Federal Government’s efforts to improve our communities,” Otuaro said.
Paul Elvis, a leader in the Niger Delta, stressed the importance of peace and highlighted that the crisis won’t fix the issues in the region.
He made a point about the need to have conversations to solve problems. He said that peace won’t happen if everyone is fighting and being mean to each other.
“We must understand that violence will only lead to more destruction and suffering in our communities.
“Our people have legitimate concerns, but we must channel these grievances through dialogue, not violence,” he said.
