The Africa Health Collaborative has announced the opening of applications for the 2027–2028 Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) Scholarships. This scholarship opportunity is designed to support outstanding African public health professionals and emerging leaders committed to advancing public health, strengthening health systems, and contributing to sustainable development across Africa. DrPH Scholarships offer eligible African public health professionals an opportunity to pursue advanced doctoral training and strengthen their impact on public health across Africa. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to pursue a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto, Canada. Scholarship Overview The scholarship is supported through the Mastercard Foundation Doctoral Scholarship Programme and is available to eligible recent graduates and graduating students from Africa Health Collaborative partner universities. For the 2027–2028 academic year, at least seven doctoral scholarships will be awarded to qualified applicants. The programme aims to develop the next generation of public health leaders who will return to their communities and countries to make meaningful contributions to Africa's health and development. What Does the Scholarship Cover? Successful scholars will receive comprehensive financial and academic support, which may include: Full tuition fees Travel expenses Accommodation Living and food expenses Books and other academic materials Additional support to help scholars successfully complete their studies Access to a strong academic and professional support network Eligibility Criteria Applicants are expected to meet both the scholarship and academic admission requirements. Eligible applicants must generally: Be citizens of and currently reside in a Sub-Saharan African country. Be recent graduates or graduating students of an eligible Africa Health Collaborative partner institution. Demonstrate strong academic performance. Demonstrate leadership potential and a commitment to public health. Meet the admission requirements for the Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) programme. Demonstrate a strong commitment to returning to their home countries or communities and contributing to Africa's development. Applicants who fail to attend a mandatory information session may not have their scholarship applications considered.
