The national executive council (NEC) meeting of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has been rescheduled from Thursday to November 28, 2024.
The decision was reached during a night meeting of the PDP Governors Forum in Abuja.
After the meeting, the party stated in a communication that they would be postponing in order to focus on the Ondo gubernatorial election. The election is scheduled for November 16, 2024.
It reads…
“The postponement is to ensure that the party approaches the forthcoming Ondo gubernatorial elections with the unity and strength required to unseat the struggling All Progressives Congress (APC) government in the state,”
The PDP stressed how crucial it is for its members to stay united and avoid any divisive talk that might hamper their efforts to establish themselves as Nigeria’s main opposition party for the 2027 elections.
The NEC meeting was supposed to tackle some big issues, like the party’s internal crisis.
The meeting had governors, NWC members, BoT members, and folks from the national assembly and caucuses.
Nonetheless, Imam Auwal, a PDP leader, has filed a request with the Federal High Court in Zamfara to block the party from delaying the NEC meeting.
The court has yet to announce its decision on the matter.
