PDP Will Take Back Benue in 2027; God Told Me Not to Contest – Ortom

Samuel Ortom, former Benue governor, claims God told him not to run in 2027. Herevealed this in Makurdi during a courtesy visit by PDP G-14 members.

The ex-governor said he had to respect God’s wish. He admitted he didn’t ask God before joining the 2023 election, so he lost.

Ortom made it clear that the PDP had a strong determination to seize control of the Benue Government House in 2027.

“I’m not contesting the 2027 election. I knew why I lost the election in 2023. I didn’t consult God. My people purchased the forms for me, and I accepted them without consulting God.

“God has revealed everything to me. He has asked me to wait for him,” he said.

Ortom also revealed that when he was governor, he gave up a lot, even leaving his family and friends for state business.

The ex-governor said they’ll keep backing the party, and that nobody’s personal goals should come before the party’s interests.

He said that after leaving office, he wanted to take a break, but the elders weren’t happy about it.

Ortom said no one can dissolve the respected PDP G-14 group, not even him as the party leader.

“As a leader of the party in the state, I lack the powers to dissolve the group. So nobody can disband this group.

“G-14 is the elders forum of the PDP in Benue. If anything must happen, I must know first because I am the leader,” he said.

He said the national secretariat already approved the ward and local government congresses of Benue for the upcoming congresses. The state congress will be on October 3rd.

He said he already talked to Sen. Gabriel Suswam and Sen. Abba Moro, and they agreed to try and find common ground since they’re on the other side.

Dr. Laha Dzever, the Chairman of PDP G-14, is fully behind the Ortom-led leadership.

Dzever said they came to show support for his leadership and promised to work for party unity.

The chairman said that in politics, disagreements are necessary and the party’s internal squabble will make it stronger.

He praised Ortom for working hard to keep the PDP strong and united in the state.

When asked about their supposed breakup, Dzever said no one chose the group. It was created in 2015 to prevent the party from falling apart after losing elections.
