The Nigerian Police Force will ensure a fair governorship election in Ondo State.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, gave the assurance at a meeting in Abuja.
The purpose of the meeting was to review achievements, plan future strategies, and strengthen the Force’s dedication to upholding law and order nationwide.
The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumiyiwa Adejobi, stated in Abuja that the focus of the meeting was on the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Ondo State, set for November 16th, 2024.
Egbetokun affirmed that the NPF is completely dedicated to upholding democracy through impartiality, professionalism, and high ethical standards.
He mentioned that the cops will go through intense training to get ready for their duties, especially in handling conflicts and keeping the peace during the elections.
The IGP also mentioned that there will be a conference and retreat for senior police officers in Abeokuta, Ogun State from November 25th to 28th, 2024.
He emphasized how important it is for the Force to work together with other agencies and the community to achieve common goals.
“A united front is imperative in tackling the multifaceted security challenges faced by our nation.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to transparency and effective communication with the public and will continue to work diligently to ensure the safety and security of all citizens and maintain law and order across the country,” he said.
Egbetokun is really committed to making the Ondo poll a success. This comes after INEC announced that registered voters can start collecting their PVCs on Thursday.
