President Bola Ahmed Tinubu sent four tax reform bills to the House of Representative for them to consider and pass quickly.
Speaker Abbas Tajudeen read out Tinubu’s letter during the plenary on Thursday.
The president made the bills in line with his administration’s goals.
The bills are the Nigeria Tax Bill 2024, which will handle tax stuff, and the Tax Administration Bill, which will make tax laws clearer and reduce disagreements.
There are two other bills: the Nigeria Revenue Service establishment Bill, which will replace the Federal Inland Revenue Service Act and create the Nigeria Revenue Service, and the Joint Revenue Board Establishment Bill, which will set up a tax tribunal and a tax ombudsman.
Tinubu said the bills will make our fiscal institutions stronger and match the government’s goals.
