Agitators in the Niger Delta may resume hostilities if politicians stop local government allocation.
The NDDF agitators are calling out the attempt to block the allocation of local governments with elected officials, which goes against the Supreme Court’s ruling on autonomy.
On Sunday, the group’s spokesperson, Justin Alabraba, said they’d bomb and shut down oil facilities if any judge, especially in Abuja, made that decision.
He warned,
“The President Tinubu-led Federal Government not to yield to the antics of the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, to use Abuja courts to seize allocations meant for the 23 Local Government Councils in Rivers State, to satisfy his personal ambitions.”
“Let them try it on Monday or any other day, and see what will happen. We will shut down major oil pipelines and production installations, and it will be the beginning of the worst to come. Nyesom Wike cannot be using Tinubu’s powers to cause problems in Rivers State without any consequences“.
Alabraba warned President Tinubu that if he messes with Rivers State, it’s gonna mess up the whole Niger Delta, ‘cause Rivers State runs the show.
The group said they can’t watch Nyesom Wike anymore, using his connections with judges to undermine Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s government.
They say reliable sources claim that Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court, Abuja, will supposedly deliver a judgment on Monday to stop local governments allocation in Rivers State.
The Federal High Court in Abuja rejected the Rivers State Government’s plea to halt the lawsuit regarding the allocation of funds to local government areas in Rivers State.
The Rivers State House of Assembly and Hon Martin Amaewhule dragged the CBN to court, asking them to stop giving money to the local governments in Rivers State.
The Rivers state government tried to stop the case from being heard in Abuja, but the court didn’t agree.
