Some days ago, the government officials demolished the office space of someone close to me. To make it worse, the demolition was ongoing while rain was falling. It became challenging to carry the property out of the building. Most got spoilt.
When I went to console him. Instead of hearing a broken man, I met someone who was happy. Listening to him, you can tell he didn’t see a problem.
By the time he concluded, he said, “All that happens is a stepping stone to greater heights.”
Indeed, whatever you call a situation, so it becomes. I learned from an early age that our perspective shapes our reality. Since that day, I don’t see problems; I see challenges.
In the book of Genesis, whatever Adam called every living creature, that became its name. You have the same authority over the circumstances in your life. The labels you place on your circumstances dictate how they affect you. If we keep magnifying the negative by giving it all our attention and giving it a bad name, the negativity will only grow.
Do you know why? Whatever you give attention to, grows.
In life, you will face friction, have sudden financial strain, disagree with people, or face health challenges. The wisdom there is not to glorify those weaknesses by calling them a disaster, curse, or death sentence.
Instead, call it a stepping stone, a new chapter, and an open door.
As an entrepreneur, I see and dine on challenges every day. To me, when they happen, it’s a call for strategic change. A move to fix the loophole that may be responsible for the outcome. I choose to innovate instead of panicking.
So, when you meet challenges, do not fear. Stay strong and be brave to call it not what you can see but what it can become.
