The PDP leadership in Edo State is confident they’ll win back their “stolen mandate” in the September 21 governorship election.
They said this during their protest at the INEC office to express their dissatisfaction with the governorship election.
Dr. Anthony Aziegbemi, the state chairman, was among the prominent PDP leaders at the meeting.
The protesters had placards with different things written on them.
They straight up demanded that INEC return Edo people’s stolen mandate and declare Dr Asue Ighodalo the legit winner.
The protest caused a major traffic jam for hours at Ramat Park on the Auchi-Benin expressway.
There were tons of protesters singing solidarity songs while the police guarded the INEC office.
Aziegbemi told the protesters that the reason for the protest was to let everyone know that INEC manipulated the election results and PDP actually won.
He stated, “We thank you all for coming out today in a journey to reclaim the mandate stolen from us by the police and INEC as they subverted the will of Edo people.
“If we had lost this election in a free and fair contest, we would have congratulated them, but because they stole our mandate, we can’t congratulate them.
“Go and sleep as we are going to reclaim the mandate stolen from us, as we are calling on the judiciary to look at our submission and be truthful in their judgement when the time comes.
“This is Nigeria and we can’t be robbed of our victory, as we are sure of reclaiming our stolen mandate, as we will present overwhelming evidence.”
