Momodu stated that if he had the authority, he would have fired Wike already due to the unprecedented embarrassment to their party.
Dele Momodu gave a shoutout to the PDP governors for dealing with their problems and told Nyesom Wike to take a step back from the party conflicts.
In an interview with ARISE NEWS on Tuesday, Momodu was hopeful about the recent actions taken by the PDP governors to resolve the party’s internal crises.
Momodu praised the governors for taking decisive steps, saying, “It’s a great start.”
If you had asked me this same question, this time yesterday, my response would have been different, but I’m happy that, finally, the PDP Governors’ Forum is rising up to its responsibilities.”
The PDP governors told the NWC members to stop fighting and start working together for the party’s unity.
After talking with everyone, the governors said we all need to work together and lifted all suspensions right away.
“A lot of Nigerians have been troubled, at a time where opposition is largely needed, we have been found wanting. I am happy that the governor has suspended all suspensions.”
Momodu also mentioned how carefully they dealt with Nyesom Wike, the former Rivers State governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), who’s been causing some internal tensions.
“The crux of the matter has been that one of their former colleagues, now a minister in the FCT, is working for the APC in government, and they’ve been trying to manage him,” Momodu explained.
He recognized Wike’s past work for the party, but was surprised by the recent conflict between him and his chosen successor, Governor Sim Fubara.
“Nobody expected the godfather and the godson to have any issues whatsoever,” Momodu said.
Momodu also gave a shoutout to President Bola Tinubu for his role in settling things, telling Wike and Fubara to go back to the way things were.
“If I was in the shoes of Nyesom Wike, the moment the president intervened positively, I expected him to step back. I don’t think anybody would have come back to control Wike when he was governor.” Momodu remarked.
“I wrote him letters in the last two years, copious letters, warning him about what would come because I’m a good student of history.”
He suggested to Wike that he should concentrate on his ministerial responsibilities in Abuja and warned that if Wike remains attached to the PDP, “either he will destroy the PDP or the PDP will remove him.”
Momodu concluded by stating that if he had the power, he would have fired Wike a while back due to the unprecedented embarrassment caused to their party.
