Edo Election: Thugs Stops PDP from Inspecting BVAs

Things got intense on Wednesday when some thugs, said to be connected to the APC, messed up the court-ordered inspection of election stuff at the INEC headquarters.

The PDP requested an inspection of the BVAS machines after the Edo election.

The APC representatives, with State Chairman Jarrett Tenebe, caused a whole lot of chaos at the Commission’s office.

Dr. Anugbom Onuoha, the REC of Edo State, invited reps from all parties to see for themselves, according to sources.

The PDP claims this invitation was meant to confuse people.

Goodluck Osaretin, a PDP delegate, expressed frustration about the situation. He said…

“The REC’s statement was both malicious and mischievous. It opened a window for the APC to disrupt the exercise.”

Things got even crazier when INEC’s Legal Head, Mrs. Rita Amadi, started the inspection as the court ordered.

Tenebe insisted on inspecting the voter register and ballot papers first, before the BVAS machines.

His objection caused a big fight between APC and PDP members. The PDP investigator claimed that APC thugs broke their phone during the drags.

Opinion on Edo Election: Thugs Stops PDP from Inspecting BVAs

What else do you expect in a country where leaders have no regard for law and order. If court has granted PDP the right to inspect the BVAs, then APC should allow.

By the way, why did Dr. Anugbom Onuoha, the REC of Edo State invite other parties? Something is not right here.

If other parties needed to check the election materials, they should have gone to the courts before now. Only PDP did.

So, there is no basis for inviting others thereby causing chaos.

Then, the APC State Chairman, Jarrett Tenebe, deciding procedure for the inspection is wrong. INEC decides that not the party.
