The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme, administered by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is inviting applications for a Communications Intern to support its Capacity Development Team (CDT).
This position plays a key role in enhancing the visibility and effectiveness of UNV’s global learning programmes through strategic communication, social media engagement, and content development.
The intern will work closely with the Learning Analyst and CDT Team Lead to ensure UN Volunteers worldwide have access to clear, engaging, and inclusive learning information.
Key Responsibilities
1. Communication Strategy Implementation

Support the rollout of comprehensive communication strategies for global learning initiatives.

Identify communication objectives, target audiences, and appropriate channels.
2. Content Development

Create visuals, graphics, and presentations for internal and external audiences.

Update and maintain learning content across platforms including the UNV eCampus.
3. Outreach and Information Dissemination
-
Coordinate newsletters, flyers, announcements, and learning kits.

Ensure volunteers and stakeholders are informed about upcoming learning opportunities.
4. Social Media and Online Management

Manage official WhatsApp channels and social media pages.

Schedule, post, and monitor learning-related content.
-
Track analytics to measure engagement and performance.
5. Collaboration and Reporting

Work with the Capacity Development Team, subject matter experts, and UNV partners.

Gather feedback, prepare reports, and recommend communication improvements.
Desired Skills and Competencies

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent organizational and teamwork abilities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Teams.

Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Illustrator, InDesign, or Canva.

Digital literacy with an understanding of social media trends and analytics.
Qualifications
Education:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

Enrolled in a master’s degree or equivalent postgraduate programme.

In the final year of a bachelor’s degree.
-
Recently graduated within the last 12 months.
Preferred Fields:
Communications, Marketing, Journalism, International Relations, Development Studies, or related disciplines.
Language:

Fluency in English required.

Knowledge of French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, or Russian is an advantage.
