The APC won all 23 chairmanship and 255 councillorship seats in the local government election on Saturday, according to KAD-SIECOM.
The chairperson of the commission, Hajara Mohammed, announced the Saturday election results, stating that 8 political parties took part, and the APC won 23 chairmanship positions and 255 councillorship positions.
Previously, the Kaduna state security council had issued a curfew to restrict movement of vehicles on the election day.
Among the local governments, the ruling APC secured wins in Birnin-Gwari, Chikun, Igabi, Ikara, Jaba, Jema’a, Kachia, Kaduna North, and Kaduna South.
According to the Chairman, the APC secured victories in additional local governments such as Kagarko, Kajuru, Kaura, Kuaru, Kubau, Kudan, Lere, Makarfi, Sabon Gari, Sanga, Soba, Zango-Kataf, and Zaria.
The Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, said he was happy with how peaceful the elections were in the state, speaking after voting at LEA Kawo polling unit O47 in Kaduna North Local Government Area.
He said the elections went well overall, with only a few small problems in three polling units.
The governor stressed how crucial the local government elections were, mentioning that the turnout in all 23 areas was decent.
According to IPAC Kaduna chapter, the election was pretty peaceful and transparent, even though voting materials arrived late in some places.
