Seyi Makinde Seeks Peace with Wike over Fire Issue

The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has made peace with Nyesom Wike, the FCT Minister, after a recent fight with PDP governors.

Makinde begged the ex-governor of Rivers State not to cause any problems in Oyo as he had threatened.

Remember when the Minister threatened to go after the PDP governors for giving the party’s structure in Rivers to his successor, Siminalayi Fubara?

In that same meeting, Wike also challenged Gov. Fubara if he has made anyone in politics.

The PDP Governors’ Forum, in a statement by its Chairman and Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, said they had agreed to acknowledge Fubara as the party’s leader after their meeting in Taraba last month.

The forum wanted Fubara to regain his leadership in the state after the party congress.

But, Wike later explained that he only meant to cause a political mess in those states.

Makinde said on Saturday that he offered peace and begged the Minister not to follow through with his threat.

‘’I came to identify with my brother, the celebrant of today, the honourable minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and the immediate past governor of Rivers State.

When I showed up yesterday, I told him I brought a peace offering because he has been boasting that he will put fire in some states, I said please don’t put fire in Oyo State,‘’ the governor said jokingly.

‘’Let me say this to my brother, this is on behalf of my other colleagues here. I have the governor of Adamawa State, Right Hon. Umaru Fintiri.

I would say that the honourable minister, Nyesom Wike and by the way, they will always say the immediate past governor.

We have here also former governors, we have one-term governors, me I am also counting down to join you guys as past governor.

‘’Let me say you’ve done well for your people. When we came in, I have heard people from the airport, up until I got to the hotel and here, I’ve seen projects and they are projects that were done during your eight years in office.

I will come back, I’d like to be taken to other projects that are being done now,’’ Makinde said.
